|And....I'm awake. (TL;DR, Friends Only!)
Damnit...can't sleep longer than 5 hours. Ah well.
I also need to shave. A USB keyboard would be nice too. Or at least, a PS/2 to USB adapter..
I'm having a bit of a problem anyhow, an identity crisis if you will.
I'm posting here all of a sudden, eh? Not inherently a problem. However I've decided to keep just about the ENTIRE journal intact and untouched, aside from some slight profile changes, it's the same as it was 4 years ago.
Posterity or some crud. Nostalgia.
This could create a problem. I don't want the new posts mixing with the old ones.
I demand ORDER.
...I also cringe every time I see the name "Kujikenaikara". it reminds me of a few things I DON'T want to remember, including the fact that I CHOSE that name willingly, being a fan of The Slayers when I was 13.
I can't escape it. Hell, look at my AIM name. It's been Kujikenaikara2x (cringe) for about 10 years now. Believe me, I TRIED to change it. I TRIED. It's too established by now, despite me creating a new penname and Internet identity that stuck.
Apparently, renaming a livejournal costs $15. Ha! Riiiight.
So there are two options.
-Make a new journal, start from scratch
-Make all my new posts (2009-Onward) friends only.
Typing it out actually makes it easier to decide. The latter it is! Comment here if you'd like.

I had it...IN MY HEAD, what I wanted to write.
and I schemed.
Now that I am home post-work, I can't remember.
What the hell.

I'll post here after all. Which makes me a FILTHY liar, but who knows. All my gaming related things go in my other blog, and the "personal" stuff can't go in there or on CL, so..here we are.
Former High School Time Portal to functional journal in a moment's notice.
Let's catch up to me however.
My computer is dead. It gave up the ghost a while back after bring resuscitated on and off for 5 years (damn, windows), and a very good friend of mine lent me his laptop. Fortunately, the lodging fee was simply posting on his up and coming site (www.clgamer.com) until I was back on my feet.
Several months, several articles and a new gaming blog later, I'm not back on my feet yet. And now, with a trip to Japan happening on my friend's side and him needing the laptop (running recon in Japan!), I am once again computerless.
I'm actually typing this from my phone. How Im going to keep up with press and continue to write articles is beyond me, but I've already found a Wordpress app, a Livejournal app...all I need now is Blogger and I'm all set.**
Funny how things turn out, eh? You never miss all the technological accoutrements you've latched onto until they're gone.
Let's see how well I keep up with my quotas now. =D
**There is no Blogger app. I however, remain optimistic.

|Wow. Well, shit!
This is me now.
Below, is me about 4 years ago. This is literally about double that in a mental sense. The kid here is a bit irascible, arrogant, and quite the knucklehead when he wants to be. I don't remember him. He has however, been absorbed into the person I am now, much, much for the better.
HOWEVER! If you can't see the difference:
- If you do not know me, and after reading some of these entries you think I'm a JERK, that's it right there!
- If you know me/have talked to me/happen to like me, and you're going WTF even slightly, THAT'S it right there!
It's a funny read though. Especially if you ever, at any point, wondered what I was like in High School.
If you weren't wondering, you just got served anyway, son.
There's still a ton of game related things in here though...some things never change and I'm glad :D
Read my new blog though. Link's up there.
Really. No. Really. IT'S FUCKING COOL. A plaintext link for you copy/paste lovers who hate HTML picture links (do you have ANY idea what a pain in the neck those can be as far as typing goes?). Control+C this beast. Or right click it. Whatever your poison.
I hear it's good for your health.
I'm out though! I really signed in for ONE reason and then realized that perhaps this archive of Lucien needed a disclaimer of sorts.
Good evening, internet kids.

Yeah right. I'll pass. Give it to the sucker that's after me on the list. *sigh*...unbearable wait.
...I feel alone..and Katherine has abandoned her livejournal for a MySpace. Sellout. Current Mood: blah

|Now that's funny...
Corporate, because of our limited supply, has forced us to give out our allotment of 360's at launch (all 6 of them) in order of the dates, and times that people reserved. There was a huge list made.
I'm number 7 on it. Current Mood: WTF.

Even though I got to play the Xbox 360 today, (played Kameo...awesome game, by the way) I'm a bit sad. Because I won't be able to buy one of my own. Collectively, the next paycheck I have will only have me paid for 22 hours of work. Yes. 22 hours. That's 11 hours a week. I can't finish paying off for everything with the meager amount of money I'm getting. I'll at least 90-100 or so odd dollars short. It's terrible. Why they would send me to that ticking time bomb of a store is beyond me. I could see if I had 22 hours in ONE week. That's understandable, and even a little decent. But for 2 weeks combined ?...*sigh*...sometimes, even with the perks, I wonder if it's worth it.
We're only getting....8 or so 360's anyway. I have no idea how I'm going to do this. All signs are pointing to no. They're doing them in order of date reserved. I forget when I did mine.
At least I got to play it though. The controller feels perfect, the graphics are pretty damn good on everything....except Call of Duty 2, which looks like the current-gen Xbox could bust it out without even breaking a sweat, and...hmm. It's just sexy. Everything coming out in this Next-Gen nowadays looks pretty damn sexy..PSP, Xbox 360, DS..Even the Revolution mockup that Nintendo's been parading around. Except the PS3. It looks like a George Foreman grill sitting down, and a refrigerator standing up. Not to mention the Batarang-esque controller. But....eh.
I don't want to sell anything...but really. I'm contemplating selling my PSP to cover losses (I'll get 170 in store credit). Sure...I'll be losing a hell of a lot of stuff in the process, but...Is it worth it ?
Oh, and I burned my middle finger fixing the stupid, cheap commercial vacuum that every GameStop gets. It hurts like you can't imagine.

OH MY GOD IT'S A NON FRIENDS ONLY POST.
*ahem*....Dear friends...how am I doing ? I'm doing great. Great I say....great. Or.....not. I think I've seen better days.
But !...I'm enjoying myself, Resident Evil 4 is leaving my nights thrilled as all hell, and with 13 days until the Xbox 360 comes out, I'm still wondering how I'm going to pay off that outrageous debt I threw myself into. Wonderful....the life and times of a gamer on the edge...Recent events have left me feeling very awkward...some doubt...some troubles here and there...and an uneasy feeling...something...different, I feel alive, but at the same time, a bit down. Hmm. This didn't turn out the way I thought it would...
I have a MySpace, but it's really a huge joke more than anything, go on and look for it. It has my name, Lucien. You'll recognize it when you see it.
Did I mention Resident Evil 4 ? Ah....shooting bizarre, superhuman, zombie-like spanish people has never been so terrifying...
And WHOA. GOOD GOD. I've been signed into AIM for 15 days now. My claim to fame. But, on the flip side, I haven't played Halo 2 (or ANY live game for that matter) since October 17th. I hope my friends miss me. I think I miss them....or maybe I just miss killing them and teabagging their bodies while the Banana Phone song plays in the background...I digress.
While remaining plain and bland is most certainly my style on here, I have to say I'm quite jealous of Ama's layout, and it's NOT just because she's got the Liutenant of my favorite Captain all over it...(I don't think.....heheh), but because it's just so great looking. So now....I would love to work on one too...(Now that I see what an LJ is capable of)....With him as the theme. Unfortunately...pictures of him are hard to come by...
More later. I'm a bit occupied.

You know what I've realized ? The term fanboy has no more meaning.
I've been called a fanboy of whatever game, or whatever system I defend. More than once. If you're not bashing it, then you must be a fanboy.
So today, on the venerable source of intelligence otherwise known as GameFAQs, I've been called the "ultimate PS2 fanboy", for defending the RE4 port...
Frequent attempts to defend the Xbox's merit as a system that does much more than online gaming has gotten me frequently called an Xbox fanboy...
So...that's Xbox down, PS2 down...now all I need to be called is a Nintendo fanboy and I'm all set.

I don't feel like myself anymore..
Gone are the days when I used to play my games, wholeheartedly and without purpose..Just, for love of the craft...I've become lost. I've bought too many at once, and...Instead of enjoying each in their own right, I find myself struggling to complete them all. What's happened to me ? I got a bit of money, and I've thrown it all on games. One after the other. I've forgotten some games, left others all together.. But I'm catching up with myself. I currently have 9 games in the queue. After I finish these 9, I never want to be in that position again. Slowly but surely, I'm returning to what I once was. I want to enjoy playing them again. This isn't to say that I don't completely enjoy them, I recently finished ICO, and it was a wonderful, dare I say emotional experience. But...I just feel like something's missing. I want to get that something back before the next-gen arrives.
*sigh* Current Mood: distressed

Kujikenaikara2X (12:58:41 AM): I wonder if I should make one myself.
Kujikenaikara2X (12:58:55 AM): If I did, it'd have to be satire, because I hate myspace aside from your page.
theR3 ALone (12:59:08 AM): lol
Kujikenaikara2X (12:59:10 AM): what do you think ?
theR3 ALone (12:59:26 AM): i think everyone should have a myspace
Kujikenaikara2X (1:00:52 AM): ...
Kujikenaikara2X (1:00:59 AM): that's like saying everyone should have herpes
Kujikenaikara2X (1:01:02 AM): Yes.
theR3 ALone (1:01:14 AM): lol
Kujikenaikara2X (1:01:17 AM): thank you.
theR3 ALone (1:01:22 AM): then everyone should have herpes
Kujikenaikara2X (1:02:01 AM): "MySpace is like herpes. We can live with it, but we'd all be better off not having it." Current Mood: cranky

|And now....because I was a little bored, and I was thinking about something someone said to me...
(These are my impressions, having read up to Chapter 16 of the Manga, and having seen up to Episode 53 of the show. I'm sure this applies for the entire series though.)
Manga Vs. Anime...Not really much to say, other than the art seems a bit more detailed in the manga than in the show. Kubo Tite has a pretty unique art style, and is heavy on his exaggeration. The most noticable difference between the two though, is that the characters seem more "filled out" in the Anime than they do in the manga. They seem a bit thinner, more roughly detailed on paper than they do on the screen.( Comparison pictures..Collapse )
It's to be expected, but, in all honesty, the Anime does a great job of capturing every scene the way it appears in the comic, though it seems more like a director's cut of the manga, with some slight dialogue changes, added scenes, and other parts removed completely. The removed scenes don't really impact the plot in a negative way, they're mostly just small scenes of comedy, or what I assume to be scenes that the writers didn't deem important enough to be left in. So, yeah Katherine, the "romance" elements are very underplayed in the anime, but are a bit more blunt in the manga. It's not THAT kind of story though, so don't expect TOO much of a difference. Some other scenes, like the fight in the classroom between Kon and Ichigo, was a nice addition, and I can understand why the scene where the principal comes into the classroom in the aftermath of that scene and got freaked out by Tatsuki was cut. It was funny, but it's omission didn't affect the plot in any way.
However, one omission (and several other small ones like this one, I'm sure) could've been left in, easily.
In the Manga, when Rukia explains Mod Souls, she explained that they're designed to be highly proficent in, and thus enhance a specific part of the host's body. In Kon's case, she explains, it's the legs. That did a great job of explaining why Kon was so fast
, was leaping large distances, and-- I didn't notice it before, but while he was fighting, he mainly used his legs. In the anime, it seemed like he just powered up Ichigo's entire body.
Overall, it's still great, and I don't like one more than the other. I actually like reading the Manga after seeing so much of the show. It feels almost like a different experience overall, revisiting familiar events in a different light, seeing more parts to the story, etc. it's all great, and I'm sure that people who have read the manga, but have never seen the anime feel the same way upon viewing. Great, great stuff. Current Mood: exhausted
